Bear
Bears are omnivores feeding on nuts and berries, as well as fish. The Brown Bear and Grizzly Bear are two varieties that roam the
forests near fresh water streams in North America. Bears hibernate in the winter, making a den in a cave or hollow tree. They can be
seen playing and protecting their young in the spring and summer months.
Native Americans know grandmother bear brings healing power. Bear is strong and grounded to the earth and can stand on two legs like
a human. It knows which berries to eat to make it strong and healthy. It nurtures itself and it's young, carefully, always protecting
its cubs from danger. |
